Job Title: HR Officer – Payroll, Benefits & HR Operations Location: Markham, ON Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Job Summary Bank of China (Canada) is seeking a detail-oriented HR professional to manage multi-province payroll administration (ON, MB, AB, BC), benefits programs, audit preparation, HR compliance, health & safety coordination, and HR cost control, forecasting & Reporting. This role requires strong hands-on experience with ADP payroll systems, advanced Excel capabilities, and the ability to ensure payroll accuracy and regulatory compliance within a federally regulated financial institution. What You Will Do Process accurate and timely payroll for employees located in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia Ensure compliance with federal employment and payroll regulations, tax legislation, and statutory deductions Administer payroll through ADP system, including reconciliations and reporting Manage payroll journal entries and coordinate with Finance for month-end and year-end processes; Handle ROE, T4, and related statutory reporting Administer employee group benefits, retirement programs, and insurance plans Coordinate enrollment, renewals, and vendor communications Ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements Support annual benefits review and renewal process Prepare payroll and HR documentation for internal audit, external audit, and regulatory examinations Maintain proper record retention and documentation standards Support internal control improvements within HR operations Support compliance with applicable federal and provincial health & safety requirements Maintain incident records, documentation, and reporting logs Assist in coordinating safety training and compliance tracking Monitor and analyze payroll costs, benefits expenses, and headcount metrics Support annual HR budget planning and workforce forecasting Develop advanced Excel-based tracking models for cost variance analysis Provide analytical reporting to Senior Management on workforce cost trends Other duties as assisgned What You Bring to the Table 3+ years of experience in multi-province payroll administration Strong hands-on experience with ADP payroll system (highly preferred) Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling, reconciliation reporting) Strong understanding of federal payroll legislation and cross-province payroll implications Experience preparing for internal and external audits Experience in HR cost tracking and workforce forecasting High level of accuracy, discretion, and analytical capability Bank of China (Canada) is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued.
