Junior Accountant Department: Finance Reports To: Finance Manager Union: BCGEU Salary Grid: 10 Wage: $27.24 - $28.97 per hour Start Date: ASAP Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Accountant to support our finance operations, with a focus on accounts payable accruals and invoice tracking in Salesforce. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their accounting career in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities * Program Support/Finance Coordinator: * Validate program invoices from various service providers so that is in alignment with existing service agreements * Manage client tracking spreadsheet and report on actual vs budgeted numbers * Prepare and record monthly accruals/reversals for outstanding vendor invoices. * Reconcile vendor statements and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies. * Assist with month-end closing activities related to AP. * Salesforce Invoice Tracking: * Update Salesforce records with invoice numbers, payment status, service hours and other financial information * Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data in Salesforce. * Collaborate with sales and operations teams to verify billing details. * General Accounting Support: * Assist with Opportunity Fund Claims processing. * Invoicing / Billing various union and government authorities * Validate and approve EFT / direct deposit payment files * Support audits by providing documentation and reconciliations. * Maintain organized records and support document retention policies. Qualifications * Accounting Certificate. * 1–2 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting. * Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300) and Salesforce is an asset. * Strong Excel skills and attention to detail. * Excellent communication and organizational abilities. Preferred Skills * Experience with month-end close processes. * Understanding of accrual accounting principles. * Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
