Burnaby School District invites applications from **_qualified Tech Ed teachers_ ****** for a full-time position at Burnaby Mountain Secondary School teaching Construction Electrician program, starting September. Must have red seal qualifications to be considered. Technology education involves the ability to combine an empathetic understanding of the context of a problem, creativity in the generation of insights and solutions, and critical thinking to analyze and fit solutions to the context. To move from design to final product or service requires skills and technology. Tech Ed is designed to teach students a hands-on approach to learning. Students start learning the basic skills that can lead to careers in Trades and Technology. In junior grades, students will be introduced to safe use of machines, while creating a variety of exciting projects. Courses are designed to give the students a basic knowledge and the ability to continue into the senior courses. Burnaby schools offer courses in Woodwork, Metalwork, Drafting, Automotive, Electronics, and Robotics as well as apprenticeship training in Carpentry, Plumbing, and Automotive. **_Required Qualifications:_ ****** **Technology Education: Secondary** * A Bachelor of Education degree (Technology or Industrial Education concentration) or academic equivalent**** * Must have red seal qualification as a Construction Electrician**** * Industrial education courses equal to 33 units which are relevant to prescribed curriculum including appropriate teaching methodology courses for the assignment. **_Application Details_ **: Your application should include your resume and cover letter, copies of: BC Teachers' Certificate, transcripts, final practicum report, and certification in trades training.
