Our client, a well-established mining company in the Abitibi region, is looking for an Underground Mine Ground Control Technician to support its underground operations. On a daily basis, you will participate in inspections, ground support monitoring, structural and geomechanical mapping, and excavation quality control. This position is ideal for someone with a background in Mineral Technology or Mining Engineering who is comfortable working underground and recognized for their attention to detail and understanding of ground conditions. With its wide-open spaces, numerous lakes and easy access to nature, Abitibi offers an attractive lifestyle for outdoor enthusiasts. **Your responsibilities will include:** \- Inspecting designated areas of the underground mine to assess excavation conditions and the quality of installed ground support. \- Monitoring ground support systems, support installations and areas requiring special attention. \- Preparing work plans for the rehabilitation, reinforcement or installation of additional underground ground support. \- Performing quality control activities, including pull tests and installation inspections. \- Participating in updates to the ground control program and ground support standards. \- Conducting structural and geomechanical mapping of excavations in collaboration with the geology team. \- Documenting ground conditions and geological structures that may affect excavation stability. \- Collaborating with the mining engineering, geology and operations teams to monitor underground work. \- Applying occupational health and safety standards, procedures and requirements specific to underground mining. \- Performing any other duties related to ground control and underground mining operations. **The benefits of this position:** \- Signing bonus and discretionary annual bonus. \- Transportation allowance. \- 4 weeks of vacation after the probationary period. \- 3 floating days and 2 attendance recognition days. \- Group insurance coverage, including medical and dental care, fully paid by the employer. \- Annual bank of 40 accumulated hours. \- Group RRSP with employer contributions of up to 7%. \- Employee share purchase plan with a 50% employer match. \- Employee assistance program and access to telemedicine. \- $1,500 health spending account. \- $350 wellness benefit for physical and mental health. \- Initiatives that promote work-life balance. \- Corporate discounts. \- Employee recognition program. \- Company-organized social activities. \- Friendly work environment. **Requirements:** \- Hold a college diploma (DEC) in Mineral Technology or be a Candidate to the Engineering Profession (CEP) in Mining Engineering. \- Have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role within an underground mining environment. \- Hold a valid driver’s licence and be able to travel throughout the mine site. \- Have successfully completed FMTM Modules 1 to 5 and 7. \- Hold a valid general explosives permit, an asset. \- Knowledge of Deswik software, an asset. \- Have a good understanding of the Regulation respecting occupational health and safety in mines and the health and safety standards applicable to mining operations. \- Be comfortable conducting underground inspections, monitoring ground support and performing structural mapping. Salary: Starting at $80,000 per year. Schedule: 4/3 schedule with 10-hour shifts. Status: Permanent.
