Position Summary Horace Engineering Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer, P.Eng. to join our Surrey-based team and take a key role in the design and delivery of residential, multi-family, agricultural, and light commercial projects throughout British Columbia. This is a hands-on senior engineering role for someone who combines strong technical judgment with the ability to keep multiple projects moving. You'll perform structural analysis and design, review and seal engineering documents, conduct site reviews, provide technical guidance to junior team members, and work directly with clients and contractors to resolve design and construction challenges. We're looking for an engineer who is thorough without losing momentum, comfortable making sound technical decisions, and collaborative in how they work with others. You'll have the autonomy expected of a senior professional while being part of a close-knit team that values accuracy, responsiveness, practical problem-solving, and high-quality work. Responsibilities You'll work across our full range of structural building projects (residential, multi-family, farm, and small commercial) taking on structural analysis and design, overseeing drawing production and detailing, and completing site reviews. In this role, you will: Perform structural analysis and design for residential, light commercial, and agricultural projects Design structures in compliance with the BC Building Code (BCBC) Prepare structural reports, calculations, drawings, memos, technical documents, and project quality plans Review, seal, and issue engineering documents for new projects Provide peer reviews of other engineers' work for accuracy and adherence to engineering standards Complete site visits and construction reviews to assess compliance with design; attend occasional site meetings Plot plans Lead and participate in client meetings Collaborate with clients, contractors, and staff Review and respond to emails Track job hours and input data into Excel spreadsheets Prioritize projects in relation to job deadlines Required Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of structural engineering experience P.Eng. in good standing with a valid BC seal (required) Proficient knowledge of the BCBC Proficient with AutoCAD (required) Seismic design experience Wood, concrete and steel design experience in residential, multi-family, and small commercial buildings Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines Strong communication and listening skills Collaborative approach, positive attitude, and strong work ethic Enjoys problem-solving and values strong client relationships Own transportation for site visits (with valid BC drivers licence) Currently resides in the Lower Mainland Preferred Qualifications Guardrails, glazing and steel stud design experience would be an asset Geotechnical design experience would be an asset Compensation, Benefits & Schedule Pay range: $95,000 - $115,000 Fixed Hybrid Work Schedule: Work from home 1 day a week (after probationary period) Flexible Hours: Flexible start time most days (except Wednesdays) Benefits: Paid time off such as PTO, sick days, and vacation days Health, Dental, and Vision insurance Life insurance Long term and Short term disability insurance Employee recognition programs

Requirements
