Further information is available at www.bgis.com SUMMARY The Spatial Data Specialist will be an active technical specialist for the Spatial Data Group (SDG). This person will be technical resource focused on capturing and editing onsite data to support the production of Virtual Location Surveys (VLS’s) for both internal and external clients. The Spatial Data Specialist is responsible for completing Virtual Location Surveys (VLS’s) that includes collecting a digital file and photo galleries of the building elevations and digital floor plan file developed from the photo survey for engineering, workspace, construction or other purposes. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Technical Activities and Problem Solving * Is the technical resource responsible for onsite capture of data forming the basis of the Virtual Location Surveys (VLS’s) using proprietary technology licensed from Planitar Inc. called the “iGuide Camera System”. Clients include commercial, institutional, and industrial clients with real estate holdings throughout North America. * Conducts technical building science investigations for existing facilities. * Responsible for technical findings resulting from investigations. Writing, Reviewing and Editing Reports * Responsible for the creation of the reports for the work products of the SDG including but not limited to VLS’s. Site Activities * Responsible for conducting site activities related to collection of data and creation of VLS’s. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS * Community college diploma or university degree and 1-3 years of relevant job experience * Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills * Proficiency in computer applications * Knowledge of Planitar Inc. “iGuide System” * Fundamental Knowledge of Building Components and Systems * Survey experience or knowledge * Ability to work independently and learn quickly * Strong written communication skills * Strong computer skills * English is required because you will be dealing with English-speaking customers as part of your job. Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation * Working at Heights training/certification * Valid driver’s license

The Spatial Data Specialist is responsible for conducting onsite data capture and building investigations to produce Virtual Location Surveys. They will also manage the creation, review, and editing of technical reports based on these site findings.

Candidates must possess a community college diploma or university degree along with 1-3 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in computer applications, knowledge of building systems, and valid certifications such as Working at Heights and a driver's license are required.
