The Biophysical Society of Canada is an organization that promotes the interests and science of Biophysics in Canada, as well as the training and career development of young scientists who have interests in the area of biophysics. We also serve as the official link with International Biophysicists through our involvement in the International Union of Pure and Applied Biophysics (IUPAB). What unites all of us is the use of sophisticated physical methods to study complex biological processes. Biophysics spans an ever growing array of disciplines, with important contributions to both life sciences and human health. The fellow will conduct research on nonequilibrium statistical mechanics, thermodynamics, and information theory. The role involves applying these theories to free-energy transduction in biomolecular machines and collaborating with experimentalists.
