Job Title: Carrier Operations Specialist Internal Title: Fleet Manager - Fleet Management Program (FM FMP) The Carrier Operations Specialist is responsible for the overall productivity, performance, and satisfaction of their assigned carriers. This will be accomplished through ongoing review of key performance indicators, followed by active participation in strategies to positively affect results. The Specialist is expected to address issues that go beyond the scope of regular daily activity. Must be well organized, an excellent communicator and have a keen sense of timeliness in prioritizing personal and fleet management program activities. Specific Responsibilities include: Carrier Utilization & Productivity: Maximize assigned fleet utilization and productivity while supporting carrier success. Manage day-to-day carrier operations and quickly resolve issues impacting service or utilization. Monitor truck availability and ensure capacity is fully leveraged. Identify and address current and future capacity gaps proactively. Partner with carriers and internal teams to minimize downtime and keep equipment moving. Carrier Planning: Coordinate freight planning activities to ensure carriers are utilized according to their availability. Support advance load planning, outbound planning, and reload opportunities. Develop efficient transportation plans that align with customer requirements and operational standards. Collaborate with planning teams to maximize fleet productivity and service performance. Participate in carrier selection for dedicated business and scheduled departures. Carrier Management: Monitor and manage carrier performance, utilization, and service levels. Ensure compliance with tracing, truck posting, safety, and operational requirements. Address operational challenges and performance concerns in a timely manner. Build accountability through regular carrier reviews and performance discussions. Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and carrier agreements. Carrier Retention: Build and maintain strong relationships with carrier dispatchers, owners, and key contacts. Resolve service, planning, and operational issues to support a positive carrier experience. Coordinate solutions for maintenance and equipment-related concerns. Support the resolution of carrier pay and settlement inquiries. Identify opportunities to improve carrier satisfaction, engagement, and retention. Other Responsibilities: Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives. Support freight brokerage and other transportation-related activities as required. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational objectives. Contribute to additional programs and departmental initiatives. Perform other related duties as assigned. Our Ideal Candidate will possess: 1-3 years experience in transportation, logistics, fleet management, or a related role. Experience working with carriers, dispatch, or load planning is an asset. Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and coach. Excellent communication skills. Ability to realize sense of timeliness in prioritizing personal and fleet activities. Strong organizational skills with a clear sense of urgency about planning and executing work. Ability to maintain composure, effectiveness and flexibility under pressure will be key to your success in this position. Strong ability to adapt to varying situations. Exceptional problem-solving abilities. Shift: 4 on, 4 off from 06:00 - 18:00 CT. This position is open to candidates based in Winnipeg or Mississauga and requires on-site work. This job is classified under NOC Code: 12013.
