Our Client Our client is a leading law firm in downtown Toronto seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to join its Finance team. Reporting to senior Finance leadership and working closely with executive stakeholders, the successful candidate will lead an established team while identifying opportunities to strengthen processes, controls, reporting and overall revenue performance. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, solutions-oriented finance leader who enjoys both strategic oversight and getting into the details. The role is four days per week in office in downtown Toronto and offers a competitive compensation package. Responsibilities Provide end-to-end leadership of the revenue lifecycle, including WIP, billing, e-billing, rates administration, accounts receivable, collections, cash application and revenue reporting. Lead annual revenue planning, budgeting and forecasting and provide financial insights to support strategic and operational decision-making. Develop and monitor key revenue and working-capital metrics, identifying trends, risks and opportunities to improve financial performance. Drive strategies to improve realization, accelerate billing and collections, reduce aged WIP and receivables, and enhance cash flow. Oversee billing arrangements, rate administration, alternative fee arrangements and e-billing processes. Develop management reporting, dashboards and business intelligence solutions that provide meaningful and actionable insights. Lead process-improvement, automation and finance-transformation initiatives, including system implementations, upgrades and optimization projects. Partner with Technology, Finance and other internal stakeholders to improve data quality, reporting efficiency and system utilization. Lead, mentor and develop the revenue operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement. Present financial information and recommendations to senior leadership and other key stakeholders in a clear and commercially focused manner. Requirements CPA designation required. 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including meaningful leadership responsibilities. Strong experience in revenue operations, FP&A, billing, rates, accounts receivable and/or collections. Demonstrated experience leading teams and driving process improvement, systems implementation and organizational change. Experience within a professional services environment strongly preferred; law firm, accounting or consulting experience would be particularly relevant. Strong financial planning, reporting, analytical and business acumen. Advanced proficiency with Excel, financial modelling, dashboards and business intelligence tools; Power BI experience is an asset. Experience with ERP or practice-management systems and system implementations/upgrades; Aderant experience is an asset. A hands-on, solutions-oriented leadership style with the ability to balance strategic thinking with attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the presence and credibility to work directly with senior stakeholders. Professional services experience is strongly preferred, along with demonstrated team leadership, process and systems improvement, advanced Excel and business intelligence skills, and strong communication and analytical abilities.
