About Black Box Manufacturing Black Box Manufacturing Inc. is a Langley, BC-based manufacturer of custom prefabricated metal and electrical enclosures serving utilities, mining, data centres, and heavy industrial sectors across North America. About the role As our Business Development Manager – Data Centres, you will lead growth in the data-centre and mission-critical infrastructure market across Canada and the United States. This is a hands-on, hybrid role focused on generating net-new business, identifying projects before the RFQ stage, developing key industry relationships, and guiding complex opportunities from first contact through award and internal handoff. Key responsibilities • Build and manage a qualified pipeline of data-centre and mission-critical projects. • Develop relationships with engineering and procurement firms, EPCs, design-build contractors, consultants, owners, operators, developers, hyperscalers, and colocation providers. • Identify projects early in the planning and design stages and position Black Box for direct specification and contracting opportunities. • Generate opportunities through industry knowledge, outbound prospecting, networking, market research, trade shows, and customer meetings. • Qualify opportunities based on customer fit, scope, schedule, commercial requirements, and expected margin. • Coordinate with Estimating, Engineering, Project Management, and Operations to develop accurate, competitive proposals. • Prepare and deliver capability presentations and commercial proposals. • Lead customer follow-up and commercial negotiations through project award. • Maintain accurate CRM records, opportunity stages, forecasts, customer activity, and follow-up dates. • Develop long-term accounts that generate repeat projects. Qualifications • At least five years of successful technical-sales or business-development experience involving complex industrial or electrical projects. • Direct experience selling into the data-centre or mission-critical infrastructure market. • Demonstrated success originating and winning complex, project-based sales with long sales cycles. • Established relationships with EPCs, consultants, engineering firms, data-centre owners or operators, hyperscalers, developers, or colocation providers are strongly preferred. • Strong understanding of the data-centre project lifecycle and electrical infrastructure used in mission-critical environments. • Experience with prefabricated or modular electrical solutions, power-distribution equipment, industrial enclosures, or related engineered products is preferred. • Ability to understand technical drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and project risks. • Strong commercial judgment involving pricing, margins, contract terms, customer qualification, and project risk. • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, relationship-building, and follow-through skills. • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, pipeline management, and forecasting. • Post-secondary education in business, engineering, sales, or a related field is an asset. Compensation and work arrangement • $65,000–$75,000 base salary plus uncapped project-based commission. • Estimated fully ramped total earnings of $160,000–$220,000+ annually. • Fully ramped annual sales target of $3,000,000 in eligible project revenue. • Extended health and dental benefits, disability and life insurance, RRSP matching, paid time off, and employee assistance program. • Hybrid arrangement combining the Langley office and remote work, with regular in-office attendance required. • Travel within Canada as required for customer meetings, industry events, and business-development activities. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to Langley, BC, or relocate before starting.
