Black Diamond Group’s Finance department has a full-time position for a Junior Accountant at our Head Office in downtown Calgary, AB. This role is hybrid - in-office with 20% flexibility to work from home. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Junior Accountant is part of the Corporate Accounting team and supports core month-end, general ledger, reconciliation, intercompany, and reporting activities. This role is responsible for preparing entries, maintaining accurate working papers, and supporting audit requests. The successful candidate is a fast learner, detail-oriented, organized, collaborative, and comfortable working in a dynamic, deadline-driven accounting environment. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented and analytical accounting professional with a strong foundation in general accounting principles, who excels at reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end activities. They will be highly organized, eager to learn, and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and strong documentation. A collaborative team player, they will communicate effectively across departments, support audit and reporting requirements, and thrive in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. Responsibilities Prepare month-end journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and related supporting working papers. Prepare monthly elimination entries for intercompany transactions impacting the income statement and balance sheet. Reconcile general ledger accounts and maintain complete, review-ready working papers for record keeping and audit support. Assist with financial and tax audit requests by preparing and providing supporting documentation. Manage and maintain vendor set up, maintenance and payment details. Receive, code and process corporate suppliers’ invoices. Provide accounting support to the Corporate Reporting team. Maintain strong documentation, follow established controls, and escalate unusual reconciling items or process issues on a timely basis. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. One to three years of accounting experience. Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, deferred revenue, and intercompany transactions. Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including working with formulas, pivot tables, reconciliations, and large data sets. Experience with ERP systems is considered an asset; SAP, NetSuite, or similar systems are preferred. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and ability to maintain clear supporting documentation. Ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
