Job details

Blue Coast Research Ltd. (BCR) is a leading Canadian metallurgical consultancy and testing laboratory located in Parksville, British Columbia. We focus on providing high quality metallurgical testwork, technical data and interpretation to the global minerals industry. Geology and geospatial analysis of data is a key feature of our integrated metallurgical and geometallurgical programs and BCR is now hiring a Senior Geologist / Geometallurgist to be part of our expanding geosciences team. Overview Reporting directly to the Manager of Geometallurgy, the Senior Geologist / Geometallurgist will operate as a technical resource to geometallurgical projects for clients of Blue Coast Research. Our geometallurgical projects span a range of minerals projects from early development (PEA, PFS, FS) to operations. The Senior Geologist / Geometallurgist will provide consulting services based at our Parksville office but will require occasional travel to client exploration project sites or mining operations. Be able to review and evaluate the historical project data provided by clients and recommend appropriate next steps in the development of site-specific geometallurgical test programs and models. Apply geomet best practice in sampling, testing and data evaluation for geometallurgical programs. Spatially map geometallurgical information using tools such as Leapfrog (BCR uses Leapfrog). Interpret and apply datasets from advanced geological, geochemical and mineralogical techniques such as hyperspectral analysis, automated mineralogy (TIMA / QemSCAN), X-ray diffraction, mineral chemical analysis (EMPA / Laser Ablation), to support geometallurgical modelling. Act as a technical resource and work collaboratively with BCR Project Metallurgists in providing oversight to geometallurgical testwork and development of new techniques for ore characterization. Build mathematical relationships between geometallurgical characteristics and the geology and mineralogy of a resource. Produce high quality reports and presentations that summarize project findings, conclusions and recommendations. Participate in client meetings; present and discuss project data. Develop and sustain client relationships. Apply principles of economic geology and mineral paragenesis to geometallurgical assessments and testing strategies. Education and Experience The Senior Geologist / Geometallurgist should have: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience as a Geologist, either in exploration, mining geology, process mineralogy or geometallurgy. Skilled in spatial drill hole planning, geological modelling and evaluations using geological software packages such as Leapfrog and Iogas.
