Skills/Abilities/Qualifications Required Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario registration or eligibility Physical Assessment course BCLS ACLS and Code Blue Recent Medicine/Surgical/Critical Care Experience Venipunctures to establish an IV required IV medications below the drip chamber required Central line care – including tubing, dressing change, line removal and blood sampling Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision required Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing population and patient needs required Ability to escort patients via ambulance services when required Complete Unit specific certification Demonstrated leadership problem solving, decision making, organizational and interpersonal skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated interviewing and patient assessment skills Demonstrated interest and experience in patient education and health promotion Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records Adherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes Preferred Baccalaureate Degree in nursing Palliative Care experience CCU

Requirements
