Landfill Operator Location: Cold Lake, AB Type: Permanent - Full time position Pay Rate Range: $32/h - $42/h Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off | 12-hour shifts About the Role We are seeking a Landfill Operator to join our growing team in Cold Lake, Alberta. This position is ideal for an experienced heavy equipment operator who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining safe work practices, and thrives in an outdoor industrial environment. While landfill experience is considered an asset, we're also interested in operators from construction, oilfield, mining, civil earthworks, or other industrial backgrounds who are looking to expand their skills. If you enjoy operating equipment, solving problems, and taking ownership of your work, we'd like to hear from you. As a Landfill Operator, you'll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the landfill while ensuring compliance with environmental and operational requirements. Key responsibilities include: Operating heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, and compactors Managing waste placement and landfill working areas Maintaining haul roads, working faces, and overall site conditions Supporting truck drivers, customers, and contractors on site Conducting daily equipment inspections and reporting maintenance requirements Tracking waste volumes and completing operational documentation Issuing Safe Work Permits and supporting safe work activities Following environmental approvals, operating procedures, and safety standards Participating in inspections, audits, and safety meetings Identifying hazards and taking corrective action when required Assisting with reporting, ticketing, and administrative duties What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Previous heavy equipment operating experience Experience operating dozers, loaders, compactors, or similar equipment Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication and organizational skills Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Landfill experience Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) landfill experience Oilfield, construction, mining, or industrial operations experience Experience working in regulated work environments What You'll Bring Strong work ethic and reliability Ability to remain focused during repetitive operational tasks Attention to detail and commitment to quality work Positive attitude and willingness to learn Ownership mentality and accountability for results Schedule 7 days on / 7 days off 12-hour shifts Day and night shift work may be required Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly wage: $32 to $42 per hour Health and dental benefits Health Spending Account Vacation pay Sick days Statutory holiday pay Ongoing training and development opportunities Please note: Local candidates are preferred.
