Job summary

Introduction Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Planner/Scheduler to support the planning, scheduling, execution, and reporting of underground sustaining capital and small project initiatives. Reporting to the Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining integrated project schedules, tracking progress, identifying risks, and supporting project delivery through data-driven reporting and forecasting. This role requires a strong background in underground mining environments, advanced Primavera P6 scheduling expertise, and the ability to leverage Power BI to provide meaningful schedule performance insights to project stakeholders. Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6. Support planning and execution of underground sustaining capital and small project portfolios. Build and maintain project work breakdown structures, resource loading, logic links, and critical path analysis. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, maintenance teams, operations personnel, and contractors to establish project schedules and execution plans. Conduct schedule risk assessments and identify opportunities to optimize project delivery. Monitor project progress and perform schedule variance analysis. Develop and maintain schedule performance dashboards using Power BI. Produce weekly and monthly project controls reports, milestone tracking reports, and executive summaries. Support forecasting of labour, equipment, and contractor resources. Participate in look-ahead planning sessions and project review meetings. Track and report changes, delays, and schedule impacts. Ensure compliance with client project controls standards and governance requirements. Support project stage-gate reviews and approval processes. Assist with budgeting, earned value reporting, and KPI development where required. Facilitate communication between underground operations, project teams, engineering, and construction groups. Requirements Minimum 10 years of planning and scheduling experience in mining, heavy industrial, or large capital project environments. Minimum 5 years supporting underground mining projects or underground construction activities. Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including dashboard development and data visualization. Strong understanding of Critical Path Method, resource loading and leveling, schedule forecasting, progress measurement, change management, and schedule risk analysis. Experience supporting capital, sustaining capital, brownfield, or infrastructure projects. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, and reporting tools. Experience integrating contractor schedules into master project programs. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience supporting potash, underground hard rock, or underground construction projects. Experience working within the client organization or other large mining operators. Knowledge of project controls, cost control, and earned value management. Familiarity with SAP, Maximo, or equivalent maintenance/project systems. PMP, PMI-SP, PSP, or AACE certifications considered an asset. Engineering, Construction Management, Project Controls, or related technical degree/diploma. Working Conditions Primarily site-based. Regular interaction with underground operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractor teams. Exposure to active mining and construction environments.
