Job summary

Canada/US Long Haul Driver Purpose: The Long-Haul Truck Driver transports goods safely and efficiently between Canada and the United States, ensuring on-time delivery while complying with all transportation regulations, company policies, and safety standards. This role supports the company’s cross-border operations by maintaining professionalism, reliability, and a strong focus on road and freight safety. Reports to: This position reports to the Director of Fleet Operations. Responsibilities: Operate heavy-duty trucks to transport freight across Canada and the U.S. Plan routes, meet delivery schedules, and manage hours of service in compliance with federal and provincial/state regulations. Ensure accurate completion of bills of lading, logbooks, and other trip documentation. Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment. Follow Canadian and U.S. transportation laws, including DOT and NSC regulations. Report defects, accidents, or violations promptly to dispatch or fleet management. Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned trucks and trailers. Collaborate with the workshop team to schedule repairs and preventive maintenance. Interact professionally with clients, shippers, and receivers. Handle freight with care to prevent damage during loading, transport, and unloading. Communicate regularly with dispatch regarding trip progress, delays, and challenges. Support co-drivers in team driving situations when applicable. Qualifications: Valid Class 1/A (Canada) Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement. Minimum 2 years of long-haul or cross-border driving experience is preferred. Clean driver’s abstract and criminal background check. Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. highway routes, border crossing procedures, and safety regulations. Ability to operate electronic logging devices (ELDs) and navigation systems. Excellent time management, problem-solving, and communication skills. Flexibility to work extended hours, overnight trips, weekends, and holidays.
