City : Vancouver State : British Columbia (CA-BC) Country : Canada (CA) Requisition Number: 47115 A Day in the Life: The Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading and optimizing terminal operations, including grain receiving, storage, processing, and shipping activities. This role drives operational performance, ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, supports workforce development, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. Working closely with employees, customers, and stakeholders, the Operations Supervisor ensures safe, efficient, and reliable terminal operations. What You’ll Be Doing: Lead and supervise terminal operations, including grain receiving, cleaning, storage, processing, and shipping. Monitor operational performance, analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations while meeting service and productivity targets. Champion safety programs and ensure compliance with regulatory, ISO, HACCP, and company requirements. Conduct inspections, support incident investigations, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risk. Lead, coach, and develop employees to enhance performance, engagement, and accountability. Manage labour relations matters, including performance management, discipline, grievances, and employee recognition. Identify training needs, coordinate employee development activities, and maintain competency records. Support workforce planning, scheduling, vacation coverage, timekeeping, and payroll verification. Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, regulators, internal teams, and external stakeholders. Optimize resources to improve operational efficiency, service levels, and profitability. Promote a culture of innovation, teamwork, and operational excellence. Perform other duties as required. Skills/Experience Requirements: Equivalent combinations of education, training, and progressive industry experience will be considered. Strong knowledge of terminal and grain elevator operations, including receiving, storage, processing, and shipping activities. Understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and industry best practices. Knowledge of ISO standards, HACCP requirements, and Job Safety Environmental Analysis (JSEA) procedures. Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions. Experience with workforce planning, scheduling, payroll administration, and employee development. Knowledge of performance measurement and reporting using operational KPIs. Familiarity with labour relations practices, including discipline and grievance management. Proficiency with operational systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications. Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to build positive relationships and effectively manage conflict. Customer-focused mindset with strong stakeholder management skills. Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and commitment to continuous improvement. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational trends and performance data.
