Job summary
We are currently seeking a Full time Purchaser to join our team! In this position the purchaser is responsible placing and expediting PO`s, managing inventory at an acceptable level and providing product information to the sales and customer service teams as required. This position works closely with all departments including distribution and accounting. Responsibilities: * Issuing and expediting purchase orders * Resolving invoicing discrepancies and receiving errors * Managing product master data, including SKU creation, description updates, substitutions, and discontinued items * Maintaining and improving relationships with suppliers and colleagues * Managing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and following up on overdue shipments * Monitoring inventory levels and ensuring adequate stock is available to meet customer demand * Communicating backorders, delays, and supply issues to sales, operations, and customer service teams * Managing slow-moving and obsolete inventory (SLOB) through transfers, returns, and inventory reduction initiatives * Monitoring fill rates and backorders * Maintaining system data as it relates to products and purchase orders (PO due dates, order controls, pricing, etc) * Working with other branches/departments to ensure information is accessible to the sales team * Assisting with month end accounting process for purchasing/inventory related accounts * Do inventory cycle counts to ensure accuracy of inventory * Other duties as assigned Requirements: * Previous purchasing experience in a distribution environment preferred * Post -Secondary Education in related field * Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) * Strong computer skills, previous ERP experience * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal * Excellent organizational and time management skills required Bunzl Canada Inc.
