Initial training will be conducted during day shift hours for approximately two months, after which the position transitions to permanent graveyard shift (11:00PM – 7:30AM) schedule. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repairs and preventive maintenance of BVCC buildings and equipment. Key Accountability/Responsibilities: Ensure that equipment that requires external calibrations are monitored to have the calibration carried out by qualified calibration services to comply with requirements of ISO 17025. Comply with all occupational safety regulations, laboratory safety procedures and as required, requirements of ISO Quality System SOPs. Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE). After consult manufacturer's manuals, circuit diagrams and blueprints, assist in the maintenance, inspection and test operation of all monitoring instruments used throughout the facility. Assist in the monitoring, documentation and record keeping of equipment and calibrations. Perform the daily monitoring and control of deionized water system, facility compressed gas systems, acid neutralization system and exhaust system bearing temperature measurements recording. Carry out general maintenance of building and grounds as required. Responsible for update the CMMS with proper data according to company SOPs. Responsible for maintaining and replacing sheaves, bushings, belts, pillow blocks, and bearings on make-up air units and exhaust fans, including repair and adjust system components. Responsible for the maintenance of building environmental systems, including wash down air scrubbing systems, exhaust fans, make up air units, dust collection systems, etc, including repair and adjust system components. Responsible for the maintenance of equipment used throughout the facility, such as rock crushing and pulverizing machines, gas and electric furnaces, hot plates, digestion blocks, fume hoods, etc. Responsible for maintaining pneumatic and hydraulic systems as well as belt and chain driven equipment throughout the facility. Responsible for adjusting and controlling the BMS system to provide proper ventilation and temperature control for the facility. Other duties or task as required or assigned by Manager and/or Supervisor Skills and Knowledge: Able to handle heavy loads up to 40 lbs on a regular basis. Able to work at heights above 30 feet from boom lift systems with required Fall Protection. Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Strong organizing and time management skills. High trades aptitude required; previous trades experience an asset. Experience dealing daily with CMMS an asset. Experience in operating hand operated tools & equipment, being able to perform measurements accurate to 0.01mm for shaft and bearing alignments of equipment. Ideally with 2+ years’ experience with mechanical and/or building repairs. Instrumentation, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or mechanical experience an asset.
