Job Description Part-Time Position: minimum 15 hours a week *Position Summary:* This position reports to the Thrift Store Manager to support and implement all aspects of the thrift store?s day-to-day operations. *Broad responsibilities of this position include:* * Maintain a clean, attractive, and safe work environment throughout the store; * Provide efficient and quality service to customers, donors and volunteers. * Assist store manager and volunteers in their tasks; * Ensure the secure handling of all cash sales and receipts and complete all requisite * paperwork for store operations; * Ensure the efficient receiving and processing of all donations of goods and inventory; * Participate in the development and implementation of marketing and sale strategies for the thrift store to assist in the growth of sales and revenue; * Opening and closing of the store as scheduled; and, * Other duties as assigned. *Qualifications:* * High School diploma or equivalent; * Must be able to lift and carry donation items weighing up to 20-50 pounds with assistance; * Must be able to sustain a full 8 hour day of standing, walking, lifting, and bending; * 1-2 years' experience in a thrift store or retail setting; * Flexible schedule; weekend availability. *Abilities, Skills, & Knowledge:* * Experience working with volunteers an asset; * Effective communication and customer service skills; * Ability to be flexible, multi-task and work with a variety of people in a busy work * environment; * Must be able to work independently and as a team member; * Ability to initiate projects; must be comfortable delegating, training, and overseeing work projects; and, * Strong interest in the mission of the Burnaby Hospice Society.
