Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, troubleshoot and support users, and collaborate with software, systems, avionics, and other engineering teams.

Job details

Our engineers are the technical visionaries behind our innovative solutions. Globally recognized for delivering cutting-edge systems, you’ll tackle complex challenges, collaborate across functions, and lead advancements that shape our industry. Supported by a culture of flexibility, growth, and innovation, join us to create a lasting legacy in safety and simulation. Description As a Software Developer, you will develop real-time simulation software used in military aircraft system integration laboratories. These engineering simulators reproduce aircraft systems and functions so that teams can test and validate software before it is installed on an aircraft. The emphasis is on aircraft controls and system behaviour rather than visual simulation. Responsibilities Develop object-oriented software components, primarily in C++, to reproduce aircraft behaviour in real time. Simulate the digital and analog signals associated with the aircraft’s avionics systems. Participate in all phases of software development, including problem analysis, requirements definition, design, implementation, informal testing, troubleshooting, and integration. Support the software’s user community. Work with several simulation models used for a single aircraft and adapt your approach to different systems and technical requirements. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team of approximately 10 employees, including a subgroup of approximately four employees that works closely with other subgroups. Work autonomously while collaborating regularly with software, systems, avionics, and other engineering groups. Valid driver’s license, or ability to commute to the Mirabel offices This is a full-time, Monday-Friday hybrid working arrangement, with an expected presence of two to three days per week at the Mirabel office and occasional work from the Saint-Laurent office. Core working hours are from 9:30AM – 3:30PM. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science. Up to three years of software development experience. Knowledge of C++ and C#. Ability to learn aircraft systems, simulation models, and new technical concepts quickly. Ability to work autonomously, manage changing technical requirements, and demonstrate flexibility across multiple simulation models. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to communicate orally and in writing about technical subjects in English or French. Ability to meet the requirements of Canada’s Controlled Goods Program and, in certain cases, applicable International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements. Eligibility to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Reliability Status and a Level II Secret security clearance. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of Rust or Java. Knowledge of FPGA development or technologies. Knowledge of aeronautics, avionics, or aircraft systems. Experience developing real-time simulation software. Demonstrated interest in aviation. Benefits We’ve designed flexible policies to promote well-being and growth, based on role-specific eligibility and requirements: Hybrid work arrangement combining office-based and remote work. Flexible working hours. Career development and internal mobility opportunities within CAE. Mentoring and access to the CAE Career Track program. Collaborative and positive work environment. Opportunity to be part of a small professional community within a large organization. Work-life balance. Comprehensive CAE benefits program, including health insurance, an employee stock purchase plan, a pension plan, and a physical activity program.
