Job summary
Calian / Deloitte is a third‑party service provider contracted by the Canadian Armed Forces Recruiting Group (CFRG) to provide information and candidate sourcing support for CAF career opportunities and entry programs. Overview: As a member of the military, Internal Medicine Specialists - Critical Care belong to the Medical Specialist occupation in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and provide high-quality acute and critical care services, whether at Canadian Forces Health Services Clinics or while deployed on international, peacekeeping or humanitarian operations. They have the opportunity to be a leader within the CAF Health Services and serve as mentor and educator to the full spectrum of military health care providers. Responsibilities: Provide consultative and direct patient care services for CAF members in Canada Lead intensive care teams in the management of injured and ill patients in Canada and internationally, in deployed settings. Provide in-transport care for injured or ill CAF members during evacuation back to Canada. Educate and advise multidisciplinary teams on acute and critical care medicine. Maintain a high level of acute in-patient care skills by holding a position within a civilian health care facility. Contribute to the development and application of health care policies within the CAF. Requirements: Education & Certifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited medical school. Licensure (or eligibility for licensure) to practice medicine in Canada. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Internal Medicine. Additional certification or fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine. Experience Experience providing acute and critical care in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) environment. Demonstrated expertise in the management of critically ill and injured patients. Experience leading multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Teaching, mentoring, and clinical education experience considered an asset. Experience in transport medicine, trauma care, or emergency response is an asset. Knowledge & Skills Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments. Ability to lead intensive care teams in deployed, austere, or operational settings. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining clinical readiness. Ability to contribute to healthcare policy development and quality improvement initiatives.
