Through the Health Care Provider Contract, Calian employs health care professionals across Canada who are integral to supporting the health and wellbeing of our military members. Position Overview Calian is seeking a Primary Care Physician to work at the Canadian Forces Base Shilo in Manitoba. Physicians function as an essential member of the health care team in the provision of comprehensive, multidisciplinary, collaborative primary health care services to the Canadian Armed Forces members. These services include primary care, minor trauma care, health promotion, prevention of diseases and injuries, rehabilitation and support services. Up to full time hours available. Responsibilities Assessments of medical fitness for duty, including pre- and post- deployment, Periodic Health Assessment, recruiting medicals, hazardous occupation assessments, and post-illness or injury Diagnosis and treatment of occupational and environmental injuries and illnesses, including rehabilitation Establishment of patient Medical Employment Limitations (MEL), approve and recommend sick leave, and assign and recommend changes in medical category in accordance with policies Maintenance of occupational health records through Electronic Health Record and other health records forms Provision of comprehensive primary medical care to patients with acute and chronic health conditions including referral to other health care providers when warranted Advantages to working in this environment: Enjoy a great work/ life balance with regular working hours from 7:30am- 4pm, Monday-Friday Generous allotment of time for each patient No overhead costs or clinic fees Easy access to onsite support services including pharmacy, laboratory, physiotherapy and mental health Qualifications License from the provincial professional college in the location of practice Certification in Family Medicine with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) Basic Life Support for Health Providers or CPR/AED Level C Certification Additional Requirements Minimum of 1 year full time equivalent experience directly providing patient medical care in an ambulatory primary care, occupational medicine, urgent care or emergency medicine setting Monday to Friday, clinic open from 7strong0AM to 4h00PM # Perks And Benefits Weekday hours 7:30am – 4pm No evenings, weekends or on-call responsibilities Guaranteed hourly rate No overhead or administrative fees typically associated with office-based practice Generous allotment of time for booked appointments Collaborative multidisciplinary team Easy access to onsite specialists and support services
