Job Title: Sr. Professional Engineer Location: Ottawa, ON Remote: No Business Unit: Advanced Technologies Department: Defense Job Type: Full-Time Position Overview: Calian is looking for a Senior Professional Engineer for their client. Their client is responsible for the procurement and sustainment of a wide array of equipment fleets for the department. They have a requirement for a Senior Professional Engineer (P.Eng) to develop and review technical documentation and provide engineering expertise in support of the organization’s procurement activities. Responsibilities: Developing SOWs for the procurement of equipment and services; Developing functional and performance specifications for equipment and services; Developing technical evaluation plans, including bid matrices, procedures and reports; Preparing performance trials; Reviewing technical documents related to the procurement of equipment and services; Liaising with DND personnel on technical and operational requirements; Assist DND personnel on the determination of procurement strategies; Review test and trial reports; Conducting technical bid evaluations for the procurement of equipment and services; Assisting in contract delivery activities, including meetings, design reviews, compliance assessments/audits, technical acceptance and close-outs; Conducting technical studies to produce technical options, validate and assess options; Conducting technical risk assessments; Evaluating designs and technical/engineering solutions; Developing design and prototype engineering solutions to technical problems; Tailoring military or commercial standards, specifications or practices for incorporation into system specifications; Preparing interface standards and integration plans for the utilization of current and new systems/equipment; Reviewing and making recommendations on work proposals; Developing configuration management plans and practices; and Developing and evaluating maintenance strategies, plans and support requirements Qualifications: Must have a Masters or PhD in Engineering or a Masters or PhD in Applied Science Must have a minimum of 72 months of combined experience in the past 120 months in the development of Statement of Works (SOWs), performance specifications, technical specifications (including system requirements specifications), and bid evaluation plans Must have 72 months combined experience within the last 120 months in the acquisition and evaluation of new equipment. Must demonstrate experience in 3 of the following: -Developing SOWs for the procurement of equipment and services; -Developing functional and performance specifications for equipment and services; -Developing technical evaluation plans, including bid matrices, procedures and reports; -Conducting technical bid evaluations for the procurement of equipment and services; -Tailoring military or commercial standards, specifications or practices for incorporation into system specifications Must have a minimum of 48 months experience within the last 120 months providing technical support towards equipment procurements to one or more of the following organizations: -Joint Task Force 2; -Canadian Special Operations Regiment; -Canadian Joint Incident Response Unit; -Canadian Special Operations Training Center; -Canadian Special Operations Forces Command Headquarters; -A Special Operations military organization from Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, United States or New Zealand Must have a minimum of 72 months of combined experience within the last 120 months in at least 5 of the following areas: -Soldier systems equipment (e.g. weapons systems, ammunition, explosives, electro optics equipment, military clothing, personal ballistic protection, load carriage equipment, parachutes); -Ground vehicles (crewed or uncrewed); -Air vehicles (crewed or uncrewed); -Maritime equipment, including crewed or uncrewed crafts; -Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defence equipment; -Military camp systems (e.g. shelters, electrical power generation and distribution systems, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, water purification systems); -Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR); -Communications; -Science and technology (e.g. research and development, prototyping, product development) services; and -Support services, including equipment rentals, facilities and training services. Must have a minimum of ninety 96 months combined experience within the last 120 months in the development of technical documents (statements of work (SOW), performance specifications, evaluation plans including bid matrices, and performance trials) for at least 5 of the following areas: -Soldier systems equipment (e.g. weapons systems, ammunition, explosives, electro optics equipment, military clothing, personal ballistic protection, load carriage equipment, parachutes); -Ground vehicles (crewed or uncrewed); -Air vehicles (crewed or uncrewed); -Maritime equipment, including crewed or uncrewed crafts; -Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defence equipment; -Military camp systems (e.g. shelters, electrical power generation and distribution systems, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, water purification systems); -Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR); -Communications; -Science and technology (e.g. research and development, prototyping, product development) services; -Support services, including equipment rentals, facilities and training services. Additional Requirements: Must be eligible to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
