Through the Health Care Provider Contract, Calian employs health care professionals across Canada who are integral to supporting the health and wellbeing of our military members. Position Overview Calian Health is seeking a full-time Addictions Counsellor with interest and experience in providing outpatient addictions services. As a member of the multi-disciplinary team, you would provide addictions counselling services to Canadian Armed Forces members in their exclusive outpatient clinic located on Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt. Responsibilities Assessing substance-use disorders, including differential assessment of concurrent disorder Assessing process addictions, such as pathological gambling, sexual behaviour, and gaming Participating in the development of a treatment plan with the client and the inter-disciplinary health care team to address the clients’ addiction Providing therapeutic interventions such as Secondary Substance-Abuse Intervention Programs consistent with the established addiction assessment for the client in an individual or group setting Evaluating the effectiveness of the counselling program, interventions, and the client’s progressing in resolving identified problems and movement toward personalized objectives Facilitating educational activities and group interventions such as pre-deployment briefings, psychosocial services overview presentations, and group psycho-education sessions Delivery of psycho-educational sessions such as addiction-free living Creating and maintaining confidential client reports on treatment services Qualifications Must have a Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Nursing; or a Diploma or Bachelor Degree Psychiatric Nursing; or Bachelor or Master Degree in Social Work; or Master Degree in Psychology from a recognized university Must be either a Registered Social Worker, Registered Nurse, Registered Psychiatric Nurse, or Registered Psychologist Must hold registration with the appropriate licensing body in British Columbia Must have a minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience within the last 5 years performing a range of clinical services including addictions assessment, treatment planning, individual therapy, and group therapy for an adult population Current certification or willingness to obtain CPR Level C with AED Additional Requirements You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level Compensation range between $55 – 60 per hour AI Usage Disclosure At Calian, we do not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to screen or evaluate candidates. Requirements
