We are looking for a physician with advanced dive medicine for CFB Esquimalt. The range of activities may encompass health promotion, prevention of diseases and injuries, diagnosis, occupational health, treatment, rehabilitation, palliative care, and support services. The Physician – Advanced Dive Medicine function independently as medical advisors and as health care providers and act as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in the primary care setting such as Care Delivery Units and treatment rooms. Within the Care Delivery Unit, rostered patients are generally assigned to a specified Physician – Advanced Diving Medicine who is ultimately responsible for coordinating and managing the care of their assigned patients. Patients access Physician – Advanced Diving Medicine services through scheduled appointments, walk-ins, and at other times during the day when medically indicated. On occasion, the Physician – Advanced Diving Medicine may be required to conduct evening or weekend clinics and function as the on-call physician. Qualifications Licensed and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Certification in Family Medicine with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) Basic Life Support for Health Providers or CPR/AED Level C Certification Have successfully completed the Diving Medicine Advanced course, be current by reviewing 10 files per year, participate in dive planning activity once per year and attend US-AUMB discussions, and maintain skills Have 1-year equivalent full-time experience working in a CF Health Services Centre as a primary care physician Have 3 years of experience directly providing patient medical care in one or more of the following settings: in ambulatory primary care, occupational medicine, urgent care / emergency medicine setting Due to the potential requirement of hyperbaric exposure, must have been assessed by a Canadian certified Diving physician as medically capable of performing work in a hyperbaric chamber – every 2 years until the age of 39, then yearly requirement.
