The Role Reporting to the safety officer, this position is primarily field-based and includes working both on surface and underground at Cameco’s Cigar Lake operation. Responsibilities include reviewing and updating safety-related documentation, supporting health and safety initiatives, and promoting safe work practices through training, coaching, and mentoring employees at all levels of the organization. The successful candidate will also play an active role in the site’s emergency response program. In This Role, You Will maintain a strong field presence at surface and underground operational areas where you will provide hands-on safety support, conduct workplace observations, and promote safe work practices. support and enhance workplace health and safety programs through the review, development, and continuous improvement of safety documentation, procedures, and processes to help ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence. coach, educate, and mentor employees while fostering a positive safety culture. be an active member of the emergency response program, contributing to site preparedness and emergency response capabilities. participate in confined space testing (once fully qualified). attend safety toolbox meetings and present safety-related topics. Required Grade 12 diploma, or equivalent; Completed a minimum of one to two years of p-secondary education in occupational health & safety, safety management, or a related field; Six months to two years of relevant work experience in the underground mining industry; Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered; Valid class 5 driver’s license; and Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.
