Req ID: 1802 Business Unit: Electoral Area Services Division: Salt Spring Island Administration Regular/ Auxiliary: Auxiliary Pay Grade: CAN/05/02/JB05 Rate of Pay: $24.21 per hour; plus 15% in lieu of benefits Hours of Work: Varies - as and when needed, including days, evenings and weekends Posting Date: March 6, 2026 (updated March 18, 2026) Closing Date: Open until filled, review of submissions will begin on March 17, 2026 SUMMARY This position lifeguards and assists in the delivery of public aquatic programs. The incumbent must be conversant with emergency procedures and able to respond accordingly. Employees are expected to be knowledgeable of the aquatic facilities rules and regulations and are able to implement the same while maintaining a co-operative and positive relationship with the public. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Life guarding. * Ensuring effective program instruction in a fun and safe manner for participants. * Assists with the delivery of special events. * Ensuring cleanliness of pool deck and surrounding areas. * May be required to assist with administration duties as required. * Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD. * Performs other related duties as required. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION * Ability to to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends, to meet operational needs. KEY SKILLS & ABILITIES * Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and customer service skills are required. * Familiar with emergency procedures and able to respond accordingly. * Knowledgeable of the aquatic facilities rules and regulations. * Ability to work independently with general supervision in a relatively structured environment. QUALIFICATIONS * Some directly related experience CERTIFICATIONS * Acceptable criminal record check.
