Personal Support Worker - Dufferin St & Finch Ave W, Ontario - CAD$175.00/week Description About the Client: We are seeking a compassionate caregiver to support a woman in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's disease with Parkinson's. She has very limited mobility and cognitive function, requiring significant assistance with all daily activities. Her comprehension varies greatly day-to-day—some days she may understand simple communication, while other days she may not respond even after multiple attempts to get her attention. She is non-ambulatory and uses a wheelchair for any movement beyond short distances. She requires patience, gentle redirection, and hands-on support throughout the day. A family member is always present in the home, but additional support is needed to ensure her safety and comfort while family members manage work responsibilities. Responsibilities: Provide hands-on assistance with all personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting Support with feeding at mealtimes, including hand-feeding as needed Assist with mobility using wheelchair and transfer support—client is very stiff and may require physical assistance to move Provide toileting assistance, which may take 30-45 minutes due to cognitive delays in understanding the need to use the bathroom Manage incontinence care including changing briefs and cleaning up accidents (supplies provided) Prepare and cook meals from scratch, primarily Pakistani cuisine—family will provide ingredients or pre-prepared items that can be heated in the air fryer Light housekeeping including washing dishes, tidying kitchen and personal areas Accompany client on short walks in the hallway or around the condo building for light activity Provide companionship and supervision to ensure safety and prevent falls Offer water and ensure hydration throughout the visit Exercise extreme patience and adapt approach based on her daily cognitive and physical state What We're Looking For: Female caregiver preferred for client comfort during personal care Fluent Urdu speaker required—client and family are Pakistani Experience with advanced dementia and Parkinson's disease Comfortable with hands-on personal care including bathing, toileting, and incontinence management Ability to safely transfer and support a client with very limited mobility and significant stiffness Cooking skills, particularly with Pakistani/South Asian cuisine, strongly preferred Calm, patient demeanor with ability to adapt to fluctuating cognitive and physical states Takes initiative and communicates clearly with family Reliable, consistent, and brings positive energy to the home PSW certification with current police check, bonding, and insurance Schedule: Flexible schedule with preference for 3-4 hour visits at least twice per week. Family is open to discussing specific days and times that work best for the right caregiver. Visits may include morning, afternoon, or early evening hours depending on availability and client needs. Communication varies day-to-day - some days she understands, other days she cannot respond even when called multiple times. Briefs and gloves are available. She primarily eats Pakistani food. Family members are always home but need support during work meetings and tasks. Preference for female caregiver for comfort with personal care.
