Primary Objective Of The Position The successful applicant will assist with maintenance of Cargojet’s Ground Service Equipment at the highest level of reliability and ensure duties are performed in accordance with Cargojet’s Policy and Procedures. Principle Duties And Responsibilities Assist with the maintenance of Ground Service Equipment as established with Cargojet’s Policy and Procedures. Ensure that all GSE Equipment is maintained and serviced in a timely manner. Assist with equipment repairs through the Preventive Maintenance Program. Assist with preparing parts lists for ordering. Complete work orders for all equipment repairs, including parts and time used. Be knowledgeable with GSE manuals/documents pertaining to the work. Maintain a clean, efficient, and safe work area. Be knowledgeable with all company and government manuals and documents pertaining to their work. Perform any other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Key Objectives This is mechanical work at the skilled level involving the repair, rebuilding, overhaul, maintenance and servicing of Ground Equipment operated by Cargojet. Assignments are made to employees by means of oral or assigned through the GSE program. Repair and maintenance and inspection of the condition of equipment, the making of repairs, replacements, and adjustments and the inspection of essential components such as electrical or hydraulic systems, brakes and controls. Is responsible for shop equipment, airside equipment and vehicles and maintenance support equipment. Key Responsibilities Service, inspect, troubleshoot and repair Cargojet’s fleet of GSE Equipment. Ensure that all GSE equipment are maintained and serviced in a timely manner. Carries out assignments of daily GSE maintenance and overhaul programs. Checks condition of Equipment, makes repairs, replacements and adjustments, in accordance with approved maintenance procedures. Report Safety issues through the SMS system and to Supervisor. Key Competency Requirements Required to lift weight 50 lbs (fifty pounds) for component replacements. Ability to operate high lifts, fork-lifts to gain access to aircraft. Ability to work from heights and on ladders. Must have personal hand tools required for Automotive Service Technician Trade Must have own personal toolbox Knowledge Abilities & Skills Preference given to applicants with the following: Thorough knowledge of GSE maintenance procedures and inspection systems Knowledge of GSE materials and parts. Knowledge of safety precautions and fire prevention. Proficiency in the use of measuring instruments and test equipment. Ability to pass written exams required by the provincial Ministry. Education, Training & Experience Preference given to applicants with the following: 310S or 310T Automotive Service Technician License. Red Seal Automotive Service Technician. Red Seal Heavy Duty Service Technician. Location & Work Environment: Required to work in a hangar or outdoors. Required to work in Restricted areas at Airports. Shift work, rotating shifts (seven) 7 days a week. Physical Standards Physically capable of performing the duties assigned with no accommodations or restrictions. Minimum Qualifications Post-Secondary Education Valid Provincial Driver’s License Ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) and an Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP). Ability to use computers – MS Word & Excel. Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities. Detail-oriented, able to multi-task and work well under pressure. Requirements
Requires a valid provincial driver's license and the ability to obtain RAIC and AVOP permits. Preference is given to candidates with a 310S or 310T Automotive Service Technician license or Red Seal certification.
