Job details
Are you interested in giving back to your community, supporting those in need, and providing care for children? We are currently seeking current or new foster families to partner with our Agency as independent contractors! What we are looking for: We are looking for committed and caring individuals who share our mission and have a passion for helping others. Families who are willing and able to provide love, stability, and care to vulnerable children are welcomed to apply to foster with us. Location: Central Alberta, including Red Deer, Olds, Rocky Mountain House, Drayton Valley, Wetaskiwin, Stettler, Camrose, Ponoka, Wainwright, Lloydminster, and surrounding areas. Foster Parent qualifications: Following the Government of Alberta’s requirements for application, there are various criteria that must be met to become a foster parent. Each case is unique and reviewed thoroughly to ensure fit! Contact us and we can walk you through the process, answer any questions, and see if you meet the initial requirements. Foster parents complete an initial questionnaire, complete the application package (intervention record check, criminal record check, medical references, personal references, and environmental safety assessment), have an approved Home Study, and then become licensed. Foster Parent Responsibilities: Meet all needs of a child in foster care (relational, recreational, dental, medical, optical, food, shelter, and school). Work as a collaborative member of a team of professionals to meet goals for the child(ren) placed. Support connections with family when deemed appropriate by the case team. Be committed to learning strategies and techniques to provide the best trauma informed care to a child, and maintain required annual training for licensing. Meet documentation and reporting requirements as determined by policy. What We Offer: Support to foster parents through monthly and as needed meetings, 24/hour on call system, advocacy, quarterly foster parent socials, training, and non-taxable financial compensation. With more than 50 years of service delivery, Catholic Social Services is one of the largest multi-function social services agencies in Canada, with more than 1900 staff, and hundreds of volunteers delivering 130+ programs throughout Central Alberta and Edmonton. We employ and serve people of all faiths, or no faith, while respecting all backgrounds and experiences. Our values are at the core of everything we do! Humility: We acknowledge with gratitude our human abilities and limitations. We demonstrate humility by doing the best that we can with the resources that we have. Compassion: We respond to people in need with love. We demonstrate our compassion by caring for people without judgment and without condition. Respect: We demonstrate our respect by being personally present, open and attentive to those we care for and by honouring their dignity and freedom. We thank all applicants.
