We are now looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial CPA to join CavaIt as our Founding CPA & Head of Tax. This is a senior leadership and partnership opportunity for someone who wants to help build a professional tax practice from an early stage and play a significant role in its long-term growth. The Opportunity The Founding CPA & Head of Tax will work closely with CavaIt’s founder to establish and develop the professional tax side of the business. You will provide technical leadership, help establish appropriate professional standards and processes, support the development of the tax team, and contribute to the strategic direction of the firm. This role is suited to a CPA who combines strong tax expertise with an entrepreneurial mindset and is interested in building rather than simply joining an established practice. Key Responsibilities You will help lead the development and delivery of CavaIt’s Canadian tax services, including: Personal and corporate income tax Tax planning for individuals and owner-managed businesses Corporate tax compliance and advisory GST/HST matters CRA correspondence, reviews, audits, and disputes Corporate reorganizations and related planning Tax research and technical interpretation Review and quality control of tax engagements Development of professional policies and procedures Client engagement and technical consultation Recruitment and development of future tax professionals Supporting the expansion of CavaIt’s tax and accounting service offerings You will also help ensure that CavaIt’s professional services are delivered in accordance with applicable CPA standards, regulatory requirements, and professional obligations. Ideal Background We are looking for a CPA with strong Canadian tax experience and sound professional judgment. The ideal candidate may currently be: A Tax Manager, Senior Manager, Director, or Partner at an accounting firm The owner of a boutique CPA or tax practice An experienced CPA considering building or joining an entrepreneurial practice Strong experience with owner-managed businesses and privately held companies would be particularly valuable. Experience in several of the following areas is preferred: T1 and T2 taxation Corporate tax planning Owner-manager compensation Corporate reorganizations GST/HST CRA audits and objections Trusts and estates Succession planning Cross-border taxation Tax research and technical review Completion of CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program, an MTax, TEP designation, or similar advanced tax training would be considered an asset. Leadership Scope Initially, this will be a hands-on leadership role. You will help establish the tax practice, contribute directly to complex engagements, and help define how the professional side of CavaIt operates. As the business grows, the role is expected to evolve toward broader leadership responsibilities, including: Leading tax professionals Developing service lines Recruiting and mentoring senior talent Supporting major client relationships Maintaining technical and professional standards Contributing to firm strategy Helping expand CavaIt across Canada and, over time, into additional markets Compensation CavaIt is currently at an early stage, and this is not a traditional salaried role at launch. We are looking for an entrepreneurial CPA who is interested in building alongside the founder. Initial compensation is expected to include an agreed combination of: Revenue participation Partnership economics Long-term equity or ownership participation, where appropriate and permitted Future salary as the business reaches defined operating and revenue milestones The exact structure will be discussed with shortlisted candidates and will reflect experience, responsibilities, commitment, contribution, and applicable professional requirements. Qualifications Applicants should have: CPA designation Good standing with the applicable provincial CPA body Strong Canadian tax experience Experience working with individuals, businesses, or owner-managed companies Strong technical and analytical skills Excellent communication and client-management skills High professional and ethical standards Interest in entrepreneurship and firm building Ontario public-practice experience and familiarity with CPA Ontario requirements would be considered strong assets. Requirements

The role calls for high ethical standards and an entrepreneurial approach; experience with owner-managed businesses is valuable, while Ontario public-practice experience and advanced tax training are assets.
