Senior / Staff Software Engineer – AI Fintech Location: Remote, US (US working hours) Type: Full-time Tech: TypeScript, React, Node.js, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, Terraform About the role An AI-first fintech transforming how mortgages are originated and processed is hiring Senior and Staff Software Engineers. The company is building AI-native software that automates complex lending workflows, and it is growing its engineering team significantly. This is a hands-on role for someone who likes owning complex problems from architecture through to production. You'll work across the stack, with a strong emphasis on backend systems, infrastructure and architecture. New engineers typically ship to production from day one and move onto mission-critical projects within their first month. What you might work on Architecting and launching multi-step AI agents that automate enterprise workflows Building integrations with lending-service APIs (underwriting, document generation, fraud prevention) Designing the next generation of distributed job-processing infrastructure Improving the reliability, scalability and observability of backend systems Building full-stack product features used by major financial institutions Designing and scaling complex relational data models Tech environment Almost entirely TypeScript, with end-to-end type safety React on the frontend; Node.js, Express and GraphQL/Apollo on the backend PostgreSQL, AWS (ECS, RDS, ElastiCache, Kafka, Elasticsearch), Docker and Terraform TypeScript monorepo with shared full-stack code Automated end-to-end and integration testing 100% infrastructure-as-code, with temporary staging environments for each pull request What we're looking for 7+ years of experience, including substantial time at Senior or Staff level, and still hands-on Strong commercial TypeScript experience across backend and frontend Recent, hands-on production experience with Node.js/Express, PostgreSQL and Terraform Experience with React and full-stack product development Experience designing and scaling distributed systems on AWS or similar cloud platforms Strong system design skills, with the ability to take features from design to production Clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Ideal background High-growth, product-led companies such as VC-backed startups, scale-ups and leading tech businesses Fintech or financial infrastructure experience (payments, lending, trading, crypto, or other systems that move money) A builder mentality, shown through startup experience, founder or technical leadership experience, side projects, an active GitHub profile, or ownership of products and systems Stable tenure and progression Nice to have AI product development, including LLM evaluation, experiment design and dataset curation Building reliable AI or agentic systems in production SRE principles and low-maintenance, observable infrastructure Security-sensitive product development Mentoring while staying hands-on What's on offer Significant engineering ownership and autonomy A genuinely AI-native product and architecture Remote working across US time zones Competitive equity Medical, dental and vision benefits, 401(k), HSA/FSA and flexible time off Feel free to message me directly to find out more!

Requirements

Candidates should have 7+ years of experience, including substantial Senior or Staff-level experience, and strong hands-on TypeScript experience across frontend and backend. They should have recent production experience with Node.js/Express, PostgreSQL, and Terraform, plus experience with React, cloud-based distributed systems, system design, and stakeholder communication.
