Job summary

Overview Overview: We are seeking an Environmental Compliance Engineer/Specialist to lead the site’s Environmental program through people engagement, ownership of programs, and influence. Provides technical expertise, proactive actions, regulatory compliance, and consultation on program/policy execution. Acts as a coach and mentor to all site personnel in effective environmental processes and principles. Responsibilities Leads Environmental Management System and environmental programs and initiatives Champions issue resolutions and environmental improvement efforts. Maintains site compliance to local, provincial and federal environmental regulations and keep up-to-date knowledge of evolving legislation Interfaces with regulatory agencies to ensure permits, licenses, reporting, and responses are accurate and completed appropriately. Assesses and develops EHS programs and strategies to ensure continued compliance, continual improvement, reasonableness, and practical execution. Manages site sustainability and regulatory reporting (NPRI, GHG, annual reports, approval). Engages all levels of the organization around environment. Responsible for environmental training and promoting environmental awareness across site Qualifications Bachelor’s degree Engineering and/or Environment (will consider experience in lieu of degree). 5+ years of experience required in manufacturing (pharmaceuticals, chemicals, or refining). ISO 14001 knowledge recommended. Experience in leading improvement efforts/projects in a highly collaborative environment. Waste and air permitting experience/knowledge desired. Experience with Regulatory Agency interactions. Strong leadership competencies and ability to champion issues, ideas, and initiatives. Knowledge of Environmental regulations. Effective communication skills. Ability to lead influentially, high level of ownership, and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Environment and over 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, or refining manufacturing. Candidates should have knowledge of environmental regulations and experience interacting with regulatory agencies.
