Staff Software Developer – Integration About Our Client Our client is an award-winning Canadian InsurTech pioneer dedicated to transforming the commercial insurance landscape. By combining advanced technology with deep industry expertise, they deliver a digital-first platform that simplifies complex processes like online quoting, rating, and policy renewals. Honored on multiple high-growth technology lists (including Deloitte’s Tech Fast 50 and Fast 500), our client fosters an engineering culture built on ownership, mentorship, bi-annual hackathons, and continuous learning. Role Overview Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, the Staff Software Developer – Integration will serve as the strategic technical authority for integration design and data architecture across the organization. In this high-impact leadership role, you will architect, build, and maintain code-driven integrations linking a heavily customized Salesforce ecosystem with core PostgreSQL microservices, financial gateways, ticketing systems, and enterprise SaaS applications. Main Responsibilities System & Data Architecture: Architect end-to-end integration and data strategies across production distributed systems; create Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) to define entity shapes, boundaries, and single sources of truth. Integration Engineering & Infrastructure: Design resilient, high-scale integration patterns focused on retries, idempotency, reconciliation, and deep observability—actively replacing legacy, no-code solutions (e.g., Zapier) with robust, code-based solutions. Enterprise Practices & Change Management: Leverage deep Salesforce platform knowledge to develop sophisticated code-driven integrations while establishing CI/CD pipelines, scratch org workflows, and configuration-as-code deployment automation. Technical Leadership & Alignment: Serve as the guiding technical authority on modern integration technologies and software engineering standards, collaborating closely with Core Engineering, IT, Product, and executive business partners. Must Haves 10+ Years of Experience: Proven track record in software engineering with a clear, evident career progression from Junior to Senior to Lead/Staff Developer. Expert Proficiency in React.js & Node.js: High-level mastery of both frontend (React.js) and backend (Node.js) development in complex production environments. Production TypeScript & Database Expertise: Hands-on experience with TypeScript and strong relational data modeling/database design using PostgreSQL (or equivalent). Salesforce Architecture: Deep platform experience operating in a complex, custom-object Salesforce environment focused on code-driven integrations (rather than admin configurations). Distributed Systems Engineering: Practical experience handling retries, idempotency, dead-lettering, backfills, reconciliation, and eventual consistency. Integrations & Observability: Strong foundation in REST, SOAP, and Webhooks, with a history of building deep observability systems (metrics, alerts, dashboards, runbooks). Modern CI/CD & Tooling: Hands-on experience managing Salesforce metadata using source control, scratch orgs, sandboxes, and automated CI/CD pipelines. Nice to Haves NestJS & Modern Architecture: Experience with NestJS, micro-frontends, event-driven architectures, and message queues. Domain Experience: Background in Fintech, Insurance, Brokerage, or other regulated, workflow-heavy industries. Enterprise Integrations: Prior experience integrating with platforms such as Zendesk, Stripe, or SAP. Platform Breadth: Experience utilizing Salesforce as an operational/domain platform rather than strictly as a sales CRM. No-Code Migration: Prior success replacing no-code/Zapier flows with custom, enterprise-grade code. Compensation, Benefits & Work Model Work Model: 100% Remote-First (Must be based in Canada) Base Salary Range: $150,000 – $180,000 CAD per year Bonus: 10% annual discretionary bonus + performance-based incentives Benefits & Perks: Flexibility & Setup: Home office allowance, "office in a box" top-tier tech setup, and half-days before public holidays. Comprehensive Health: Flexible health/dental coverage, mental health support, parental leave top-ups, and health/personal spending accounts. Professional Growth: Generous annual education reimbursement budget, bi-annual company-wide hackathons, and structured career development tracks.
