Role Overview The Team Lead, Engineering will spearhead the Accounts Tooling and Automation Team, which is dedicated to building and enhancing core digital platform tools that empower the internal sales organization. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, you will play a critical role in scaling application solutions while balancing hands-on technical contributions with leadership. Over your first 6–12 months, your mission will be to mentor and coach your developers into a high-performing team, collaborate cross-functionally with other engineering leaders, and guide the architecture through complex technical milestones. Main Responsibilities Coach and mentor team members to foster a highly collaborative, self-organizing, and cross-functional engineering environment. Collaborate with leadership and engineering managers to set team goals, align on best practices, and establish clear performance metrics using frameworks like OKRs. Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into clear, actionable technical tasks that the development team can accurately estimate. Design and build scalable, user-friendly systems and in-house tooling using modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem tech stacks. Review technical code and contribute directly to development efforts while driving architectural decisions and defining software tradeoffs. Implement monitoring strategies and contingency plans for platform areas heavily integrated with third-party vendors. Identify growth areas for your direct reports, conducting regular performance reviews and ensuring continuous technical and leadership development. Must-have required skills and experience Professional Experience: 7+ years of work experience in a software engineering or development capacity. Leadership Experience: 2+ years of dedicated experience managing, coaching, and mentoring other developers on a product team. Core Technical Stack: 5–8 years of deep expertise with TypeScript and Node.js. Ecosystem Proficiency: Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, AWS, Microservices, Micro-Frontends, Queues, Caches, REST APIs, gRPC, and WebSockets. Leadership Methodologies: Practical experience utilizing goal-setting frameworks (e.g., OKRs, SMART goals) and managing performance. Education: University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent technical program (or equivalent verified work experience). Nice-to-have skills Conceptual understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerization (Kubernetes), and advanced cloud monitoring/alerting. Experience utilizing JavaScript tooling and frameworks like NestJS, React, Jest, NX, and WebPack. Familiarity working with dynamic rendering engines and executing data-backed A/B testing. Logistics & Compensation Location/Work Mode: Fully Remote (Remote-first setup within Canada) Employment Type: Full-time Compensation: $150,000 - $170,000 base salary + 10% annual discretionary bonus
