Lead mechanical engineering work for complex underground mining and heavy industrial projects, including concept development, design reviews, calculations, equipment selection, and proposal estimates. Support procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, safety and quality processes, while mentoring engineers and designers and maintaining departmental standards.

Lead estimates for assigned mining projects from bid decisions through final proposal submission, including schedules, cost estimates, methodologies, and supporting documents. Coordinate reviews and stakeholder input, assess project risks and performance, maintain estimating data, and support continuity from tender through project completion.

Develop electrical Field Instruction Work Packages, readiness documentation, and detailed schedules to support safe, predictable construction execution. Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and operations teams to manage materials, risks, permits, personnel, and work-package readiness.

Lead underground construction work, including installing and maintaining mine infrastructure, ground support, ventilation, mine services, and concrete or shotcrete structures. Examine workplaces, operate and inspect equipment, follow safety requirements, coordinate with the crew, and support quality workmanship and project cost control.

Provide hands-on health, safety, and training support to the Jansen project workforce, including inspections, hazard reporting, incident investigations, training coordination, and onboarding. Maintain compliant HSE records and reporting, track corrective actions, and support continuous improvement of project safety programs and procedures.

Coordinate handover and turnover activities from construction completion through client acceptance, including preparing and tracking turnover packages, documentation, schedules, inspections, and deficiencies. Work with construction, engineering, quality, commissioning, document control, and client representatives to resolve outstanding items, obtain approvals, and ensure complete and accurate project closeout records.

Handle shipping and receiving, including loading and unloading deliveries, preparing equipment and materials for shipment or storage, and verifying shipment contents. Maintain and organize the yard, operate mobile equipment, complete local parts deliveries, keep required records, and follow workplace safety procedures.
