Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society (CVIMS) is a non-profit organization located on the Traditional Territories of Snuneymuxw and Snaw-Naw-As First Nations, what is known now as Nanaimo, British Columbia. Established in 1979, CVIMS provides services to newcomers and refugees through settlement, employment and English language support. As a community-based, client-driven agency, CVIMS is committed to being accessible and responsive to our diverse community.

Provides direct settlement support to Government-Assisted Refugees by conducting needs assessments, facilitating community referrals, and assisting with housing and financial orientation. Collaborates with the RAP team to ensure coordinated, client-centered support from arrival through long-term integration.

The Intake Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for newcomer clients, conducting needs assessments and connecting them to appropriate settlement and employment programs. The role also provides administrative support, maintains accurate client records, and facilitates referrals to community resources.
