Job details

Who we are ChainPatrol is a venture-backed brand protection platform. Our technology detects and removes the scammers, fake accounts, and phishing sites impersonating the world’s biggest brands, at scale and around the clock. AI has made brand impersonation faster, cheaper, and more convincing than ever. Deepfakes, cloned sites, and fake support accounts now spin up in minutes. We’re the ones stopping them. We’re a fast-paced startup and we’re growing quickly. Our founders and leadership team have built and sold multiple companies before. This is the one they want to be known for. About the Role This is our first dedicated finance hire. Right now the books, payroll, collections, and company spend are split between the founders and a fractional bookkeeper. You’ll bring all of it under one roof and run it properly. Monthly close, accounts receivable, payroll coordination across three countries, and where the money actually goes. The part that makes this different from a normal accounting job is what we want you to do with the data once it’s clean. We want someone who builds dashboards, runs their own queries, and comes to the founders with “here’s what I noticed” rather than waiting to be asked. AI tools make that possible for one person in a way it wasn’t two years ago, and we want someone who’s excited about that rather than nervous about it. You’ll work directly with the CEO and COO. This is a small company, so you’ll be reconciling accounts in the same week you’re building a report someone takes into an investor conversation. What you’ll own Monthly close in QuickBooks: reconciliations, accruals, and clean financial statements on time Accounts receivable end to end: invoicing, aging, and chasing payment until it lands Payroll coordination for our US, Canadian, and Philippines team members, working with our providers to keep each one compliant Company spend: our travel and expense program in Navan, software subscriptions, vendor relationships, and team purchases Budget tracking for conferences and events, including what each one actually cost us Reporting and dashboards that give the founders a current picture without them having to ask Supporting the financial model with clean actuals and flagging what’s drifting from plan How you'll use AI You pull your own data and answer your own questions instead of waiting on someone else. You build reporting that refreshes itself rather than rebuilding the same spreadsheet every month. You automate the parts of close that shouldn’t take three hours. You use LLMs to draft, check, and move faster through work you’d otherwise do by hand. You don’t need to be technical. You need to be curious, willing to figure things out on your own, and already using these tools in some form. What we’re looking for 2 to 5 years in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping Hands-on QuickBooks experience and comfort owning a monthly close Strong spreadsheet skills. You build models other people can follow You already use AI tools in your work and want to use them more Comfortable with mess. A lot of this isn’t set up yet, and you’ll be the one setting it up Someone who brings answers rather than questions. If something looks wrong, we’d rather hear what you think we should do about it Nice to have Experience with payroll across more than one country SaaS revenue recognition or ARR reporting Exposure to SR&ED or other R&D tax credit programs Experience at a startup or small company where you touched more than one part of the finance stack Compensation and Benefits $60,000 to $85,000 CAD, depending on experience Performance-based incentives Health benefits and a learning budget Logistics The role is hybrid, but mostly remote. You'll only be needed in the office 2-4 times/month Our office is located at Spadina and Front street Starting ASAP
