How You Will Contribute Ciena Canada ULC is seeking a Junior Pluggable Optical Modem Test Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for executing test plans, analyzing results, and contributing to the verification and validation of our cutting-edge pluggable optical modem products. Job Responsibilities Execute test plans in a factory environment for legacy and next-generation pluggable optical modems, including functional, performance, and stress testing. Analyze, document, and communicate test results and defects to development teams. Participate in root cause analysis and issue resolution in collaboration with senior engineers. Contribute to the development and maintenance of automated test scripts and tools with an emphasis on test efficiency and cycle-time reduction. Collaborate with cross-functional hardware, software, and firmware engineering teams. The Must Haves Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field. Foundational knowledge of optical communication principles and components, such as lasers, photodetectors, and optical fiber. Hands-on experience with laboratory test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and optical power meters. Proficiency in at least one scripting language, such as Python or MATLAB, for test automation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team. Ability to travel up to 20%.
