Mechanical Designer

Sedgman is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Designer, with hands-on experience on projects ranging from conceptual design to detailed engineering. This person will be based out of our Vancouver office. The ideal incumbent will have robust experience in detailed design and layout of ore handling systems in mining/heavy industrial projects The Mechanical Designer works on a diverse array of projects across the Mineral Processing industry. You'll be involved in the entire design process, from concept to detailed design, with a clear focus on Mechanical expertise. Come join a growing business and a winning team! Key Responsibilities * Complete detailed design of equipment and plant layouts from sketches or specification outlines in the mechanical field under direction of engineers or a supervising designer * Create 3D designs from complex, multidiscipline engineering concepts. * Participate in the review of designs and advise on technical drafting difficulties or compliance requirements as appropriate. * Comply with the Change Management process for engineering design * Prepare drawings of designs relating to plant, equipment, services or other facilities or structures. * Participate in the development and continuous improvement of the Quality management process and system. * Ensure engineering designs follow the standard Sedgman design workflows, systems and procedures * Provide drafting support to the project teams in line with management direction from them whilst maximising individual and teams utilisation. * Focus on meeting expectations for schedule, quality and client satisfaction * Check drafting deliverables for accuracy, completeness and adherence to design specifications & intent. * Apply attention and diligence to uphold quality standards, and client requirements, to complete tasks efficiently. About You * Associate Diploma in CAD / Associate Degree in Engineering or equivalent. * Must have 5-7 years industry experience in a design / consultancy environment, preferably supporting mining, minerals processing, or heavy industries. * Experience with projects from conceptual design through to detailed engineering. * Strong expertise in Auto CAD 3D software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Navisworks) is essential * Ability to work autonomously. * Previous MS Office skills What is in it for you? * Get to work on significant projects for the Canadian mining industry * Significant career growth potential * Access to world leading mentors across disciplines and commodities * Short term incentives (bonus) program * RRSP matching * Health and benefits package Salary Range: $75,000 – 90,000 The salary offered to the successful person for this position will consider education, experience, relevant skills and capability, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hire. The Mechanical Designer will complete detailed equipment and plant layouts from conceptual sketches to final engineering designs. They will also ensure all designs comply with quality standards and Sedgman's internal workflows while providing drafting support to project teams.

Candidates must possess an Associate Diploma or Degree in Engineering or CAD with 5-7 years of industry experience in mining or heavy industrial design. Proficiency in 3D design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or Navisworks is essential.
