Beaumont is the fastest growing community in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region and The Beaumont Sport & Recreation Centre (BSRC) is looking for certified, energetic lifeguard/instructors who are available to work morning and daytime hours to join our team! This facility features an NHL-sized ice rink with seating for spectators, fieldhouse that can accommodate indoor soccer, lacrosse, and host events; a gymnasium that can accommodate multi-court play; climbing-wall; running/walking track; concession, multi-purpose rooms, tuck shops; and of course an aquatic centre. Do you have sound understanding of lifeguard/instructor principles? Are you able to practice good judgement? Do you have exceptional communication skills and the aptitude to command the attention of an audience? Do you have previous supervisory experience and are passionate about aquatics recreation? If you answered yes to these questions, this position could be a great fit for you! What YOU’RE Responsible for: Direct supervision and safety of patrons; ensure compliance with governing bodies Ensure facility patrons are enjoying the pool amenities in a safe manner; address and correct unsafe or unruly behaviour; practice and encourage safe work behaviour and educate patrons Be an active leader who ensures health and safety standards are implemented and maintained Train lifeguard/instructors during shadow shifts and complete required paperwork Recognize the signs of emergencies and take appropriate first aid actions with completion of required documentation Develop lesson plans, instruct swim lessons to children and youth of all skill level, and provide required feedback Daily pool maintenance duties Ensure a clean, safe and enjoyable environment is maintained What YOU Bring: LSS Swim Instructor LSS National Lifeguard Intermediate First Aid A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and a Child Services Intervention Check Demonstrated lifeguarding and/or instructor abilities and skills Ability to meet the shift requirements; shifts will include hours between 4:45 AM and 4:00 PM Experience with directing children and youth. Must be available to work at least one week day and one weekend day per week Ability to resolve conflict and problem solve Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team Assets: LSS - Oxygen Administration LSS - Aquatic Emergency Care LSS - Lifesaving Instructor LSS – Swim Abilities Instructor LSS – National Lifeguard Instructor LSS – Swim Instructor Trainer, LSS LSS - Lifesaving Trainer LSS – Swim Abilities Instructor Trainer LSS – Lifesaving First Aid Instructor LSS – Lifesaving First Aid Instructor Trainer LSS – Aquatic Management Training, Pool Ops 1 & 2 What WE Offer: $21.42 – $26.72 per hour (based on qualifications/certifications and experience) Up to 29 hours per week Membership to the Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre And an amazing team to work with!! Requirements
Candidates must hold LSS Swim Instructor and LSS National Lifeguard certifications along with Intermediate First Aid. A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and a Child Services Intervention Check are mandatory.
