Brandon Community Sportsplex – Recreation Department **More than one position may be filled** Please apply with a cover letter and resume online. Position Conditions: Incumbents must successfully complete a Child Abuse Registry Check and Criminal Reference Check including Vulnerable Sector Verification (must be obtained prior to program start date). The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid. Rate of Pay: $17.64 - $24.57 per hour (2026 Rates). Closing Date: Open until filled. This competition will include an interview. PURPOSE OF POSITION This position entails standard lifeguarding and instructing duties at Brandon’s Community Sportsplex. Successful incumbents will be required to provide instruction in the many pool programs offered at the facility. Lifeguard/Instructors are responsible for the general maintenance, care, and conditions of the pool area. Incumbents will work a variety of shifts during days, evenings, and weekends which may include split shifts. MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Standard (Intermediate) First Aid and CPR Level C certificate (must be obtained prior to program start date); Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard award; Swim for Life and or Lifesaving Instructor. Successful completion of a Child Abuse Registry Check and Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Verification (must be obtained prior to program start date); PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Swim for Life and or Lifesaving Trainer; National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiner; Lifesaving Society or Red Cross First Aid Instructor certificate. PLEASE NOTE: If you do not currently hold all of the mandatory qualifications or they are not current, you may still apply for this position as long as you are enrolled in the proper courses/re‑certifications needed to meet the mandatory qualifications listed above and have these prior to starting employment. Preference will be given to applicants possessing all of the mandatory certifications and one or more of the preferred qualifications listed above.
