The Edmonton Police Service is seeking a strategic and innovative leader to serve as Director, Data Governance and Analytics. Reporting to the Senior Executive Director, Strategic Management and Financial Oversight, this role provides enterprise leadership for data strategy, governance, analytics, and business intelligence across the organization. This roll will be critical in enhancing law enforcement operations, optimizing resource allocation, and improving community safety outcomes. You will collaborate closely with departmental leaders, technology partners, and external stakeholders to drive innovation and leverage AI solutions effectively within the Service. Responsibilities of the role will include: Lead the development and execution of the organization's enterprise data governance and analytics strategy. Establish and oversee data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and practices to ensure the secure, ethical, and effective use of data. Drive data-informed decision-making by integrating business, operational, financial, and strategic analytics across the organization. Identify opportunities to leverage data and analytics to improve organizational performance, service delivery, resource allocation, and strategic outcomes. Provide executive-level advice and recommendations regarding data investments, analytics initiatives, and emerging technologies. Champion the use of data as a strategic asset and foster a culture of evidence-based decision-making. Oversee enterprise business intelligence, performance measurement, reporting, and analytics programs. Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, privacy, security, and information management requirements related to data. Lead the evaluation and implementation of new analytics tools, technologies, and methodologies. Collaborate with operational and corporate areas to align analytics and reporting efforts with organizational priorities. Direct enterprise planning activities related to data management, analytics, business intelligence, and performance measurement. Monitor and report on organizational performance indicators, strategic outcomes, and emerging trends. Develop and manage branch budgets, business plans, and resource requirements. Build, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary team of analysts, data specialists, and business intelligence professionals. Foster strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, municipal partners, government agencies, academia, and external organizations to advance data and analytics capabilities. Lead change management initiatives that enhance organizational maturity in data governance, analytics, and performance measurement. A University degree in computer science or business administration. Public Administration, Social Sciences or a related field or equivalent experience. A graduate degree is preferred and considered an asset. 5+ years of specialized training, certifications or designations that are directly related to this area of work. 10+ years’ progressive leadership training in the area data management and corporate governance. Recognized as an authority in management and/or area of specialization and provides advice, guidance and support to others across the organization. Strong technical expertise in AI technologies, machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and related disciplines. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, manage multidisciplinary teams, and drive innovation in complex organizations. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally along with the ability to explain the concepts of AI to a non-technical audience. Experience working with diverse datasets, data governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements related to data privacy and security. Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques for planning, executing, and monitoring AI projects. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of artificial intelligence and law enforcement. Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of variable hours of work program. Salary Range: 95M, Salary Grade: ML4, $161,608.04 - $202,010.05 (annually).
