Our Geographical & Information Technology Services Department is looking for a dedicated GIS Developer to join the team. Position Responsibilities The GIS Developer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting Geographic Information System (GIS) applications, integrations, and spatial data solutions that support municipal operations and public services. This role works collaboratively with departments across the organization to deliver innovative GIS-based tools, automate business processes, and integrate spatial data into corporate systems to support informed decision-making. The GIS Developer plays a key role in maintaining mission-critical GIS infrastructure and advancing the City’s strategic initiatives through modern geospatial technologies, automation, and system integrations. Main Responsibilities Include GIS Application Development Project Management and Alignment Business Systems Integration & Automations GIS Data Management and Support GIS Operational Support GIS Enterprise Environment Maintenance & Support Support and participation of regional emergency events through GPREP GIS is a dynamic environment with constant demands. Qualifications Education & Experience: Degree or diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related field. Five (5) or more years of experience developing and supporting enterprise GIS applications and integrations. Experience working in a municipal government or public sector environment is considered an asset. Technical Skills Experience with ESRI technologies including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, and web GIS applications. Experience with maintaining an on-premise ArcGIS Enterprise environment including Portal/Server admin, installation and updating of software, and responsibilities of GIS Enterprise virtual machine infrastructure. Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, SQL, and REST APIs. Experience with FME and GIS automation workflows. Knowledge of relational databases and spatial databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle, etc.). Familiarity with cloud, web services, and enterprise application integrations. Understanding of GIS data standards, governance, and security best practices. Core Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams. Strong customer service orientation with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation. The ability to respond to out of hours regional emergency events as a City GIS representative in GPREP. Team collaboration focus with a positive mindset. A sense of humor to share with the organization. Hours The standard workweek consists of an average of 35 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor. Compensation Salary range of $51.57 to $66.65 per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement. Benefits Comprehensive benefits package.
