SUMMARY OF DUTIES Reports to the Body Shop Foreperson. Perform body repair, overhaul, inspect and diagnosis of Transit Fleet vehicles in an efficient and effective manner with a high degree of quality to reduce or eliminate premature wear/corrosion, service calls, in-service failures and provide maximum service dependability. GENERAL DUTIES File, grind, sand, fill and finish metal and fiberglass. Cutting and bending / restoration of metal components. Plasma and oxyacetylene use. Draws on abilities pertaining to Welding practices using MIG, TIG, Electric and oxyacetylene, including aluminum. Weld breaks in body and frames, associated parts, and fabricate as required. Correct Accident / Collision vehicles to OEM standards. Glass window / windshield and framing replacement as required. Use of all types of fastening methods, including rivets, welding, chemical bonding etc. Required to use skills and competency in the repair of fibreglass. Remove, refurbish and install parts / components / systems necessary to perform body repairs. Assist 310T Technicians and other trades as required by ministry standards. Record, enter, review data as directed to provide accurate and timely vehicle repair information. Works in accordance with the provisions of applicable Health and Safety legislation and all City of Hamilton corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety. The duties and relationships outlined in this description are intended to cover only the significant responsibilities. Other duties which are related to the Transit Maintenance functions may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor or designate. QUALIFICATIONS Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Ontario Driver's Licence, Class "C", with "Z" endorsement. Must have and maintain a valid Autobody and Collision Damage Repairer (310B) Ontario Trade Licence. Must be physically capable of using heavy tools and equipment as necessary. Supply and maintain an adequate set of personal hand tools required for the job. Able to work with minimum supervision. Be familiar with safe work practices involving equipment, machinery and various chemicals. Knowledge of WHMIS, SDS, MTO and safety standards. Ability to demonstrate walking, lifting, climbing, and safe equipment usage in a dynamic industrial work environment. THIS POSITION REQUIRES A VALID CLASS "G" DRIVER'S LICENCE AND PROOF THEREOF IS REQUIRED AFTER HIRE. SALARY: Hourly Salary Grade 15T HOURS: 40 per week SHIFT: To be determined. All candidates should be prepared to work weekends and shift work to support a 24/7 service.
