Overview Provides aquatic leadership program instruction for National Lifeguard, Lifesaving Instructor, Swim Instructor, Assistant Instructor and Standard First Aid and CPR-C courses. Responsibilities Plans, implements and conducts safe aquatic leadership program instruction for National Lifeguard, Lifesaving Instructor, Swim Instructor, Assistant Instructor and Standard First Aid and CPR-C courses. Ensures compliance with Ontario Health Regulations and all relevant legislation and Policy and Procedures manuals. Ensures that appropriate equipment is in place and operational and that the equipment is stored away after use. Evaluates and certifies performance and maintains records of performance and attendance. Communicates participants’ performance and progress to participant. Performs tasks necessary to support the program including reports and records. Responds to aquatic emergency situations and uses safety/rescue equipment. Consults superiors regarding exceptional situations and difficulties (e.g., extremely irate or difficult customers). Performs other related duties as assigned. Education Experience 3 months of related experience. Additional Requirements Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) award. Current Lifesaving Instructors certification. Valid CPR Level “C” and Standard First Aid Certificate. Current Bronze Cross Examiner. Current instructor certification in one or more of the following: Standard First Aid Instructor, National Lifeguard Instructor, Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer. Customer service skills. This work requires mental/sensory demands with visual or listening concentration while monitoring pool. Requires moderate physical activity primarily involving standing, kneeling, and reaching.
