Job summary
Overview As a Crossing Guard, you will assist in the safe movement of all pedestrians, including school children, by observing gaps in traffic and indicating when it is safe to cross. Your role ensures the safety of pedestrians at designated crossing points by assuming right-of-way and stopping vehicular traffic. Locations Include (but not limited to): Activa/Berry Moss, Activa/Bridlewreath, Eagen/Queens Blv, Greenbrook/Westmount, and Kinzie/River. Number of Openings: 6 Responsibilities Helps all pedestrians, including children, safely cross roadways and intersections by stopping vehicular traffic at designated points. Watches for gaps in traffic and walk children across the roadway or intersection while holding a "stop" sign visible to approaching vehicles. Advises children on safe behavior. Reports issues or incidents to the supervisor. Performs other related duties as assigned. Education Minimum equivalent to partial secondary school education. Experience Up to 1 month of related experience such as customer service or working/volunteering with others. Additional Requirements Hours of work: Monday to Friday, approximately 1 hour shift between 8:00am to 9:30am and approximately 1 hour shift between 2:45pm to 4:00pm (timing may vary). Access to reliable transportation to travel to your assigned location within the City. Willing to undergo a medical check to ensure that the potential candidate is fit for duty as a condition of employment. Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check at your own expense as a condition of employment. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Strong understanding of pedestrian road safety skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Able to work in a variety of weather conditions in all seasons. Able to work with youth. Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.

Requirements
Candidates need a partial secondary school education and up to one month of related experience in customer service or volunteering. A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and a medical fitness check are required conditions of employment.
