The City of North Bay invites applications for the permanent part-time position of Arena Maintenance Person II. Under the direction of the Arenas Supervisor or their designate, the maintenance person acts as a General Handyperson and Custodian in performing a variety of duties connected with maintenance, repairs, minor construction, grounds keeping, rink ice and basic ice resurfacer maintenance. The maintenance person also monitors the refrigeration plant and heating systems. Qualifications Minimum Grade 10 Education or equivalent acceptable experience. One (1) year related maintenance experience. Must hold a basic refrigeration certificate. Ice making, ice maintenance and refrigeration experience considered an asset. Must possess propane handling certification or Record of Training (ROT). Basic working knowledge of computers. Ability to read, write, understand and follow instructions. Basic skills in at least one construction trade. Knowledge of tools and materials used in mechanical trades. Ability to deal with the public. Ability to work with minimum supervision. Ability to work within timelines. Demonstrated ability to operate arena equipment (ice resurfacer, forklift, bucket truck, plow truck). Must possess a valid “G2” or “G” class driver’s license.
