The Infrastructure, Transportation & Parks department (Engineering Operations) requires a regular full-time Supervisor 1 (Solid Waste). Responsibilities In this leadership role, you will report to the Section Manager, Operations and be responsible for skilled supervisory work coordinating, directing and participating in the work of crews engaged in a variety of tasks such as solid waste pickup, litter collection, and street cleaning/sweeping. You will schedule, coordinate and supervise the work of truck drivers and equipment operators, and external contractors. You will plan, develop and implement approved internal corporate solid waste management programs that increase waste diversion and/or reduce waste production. A thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, procedures and materials, tools and equipment used in municipal solid waste collection, litter collection and street sweeping operations is required while ensuring performance standards, specifications and safety procedures are met. Your time will be spent actively in the field as well as at the Operations Centre. Requirements You will have completed Grade 12, supplemented by a diploma or trade (or other) qualifications in a field related to the work. You will have considerable knowledge of and direct related experience in municipal solid waste and maintenance operations. You will be proficient with Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft and Infor Public Sector (IPS), or similar Financial and Asset Management systems. You also have the ability to supervise and assist in the work of a small group of employees, and have a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License. Class 3 BC Driver’s license would be an asset. Requirements
